Is it possible to deter armed attack against nuclear power plants by International law; Its limit and future perspective

Fukui, Yasuhito

Nihon Genshiryoku Gakkai-Shi ATOMO$$Sigma$$, 65(9), p.564 - 567, 2023/09

AA2022-1023.pdf:0.55MB

This article explains that how the international law prevents armed attacks to nuclear power plant based on the lex lata basis. Four points are raised, in other words, first, how the current international law prohibit armed attacks to the nuclear power plant. Second, the current international law can prevent the armed attacks effectively. Third, if the law lacks the effectiveness, what kind of framework or response are necessary. Fourth, if these legal frameworks are applied to the nuclear power plants in Japan, how these will be accommodated are explained.

Survey for revision of regulatory standards for radiation dose assessment through incorporation of the ICRR 2007 recommendations

Takahashi, Fumiaki; Manabe, Kentaro

no journal, ,

If the 2007 Recommendations of International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) are incorporated to radiation regulations in Japan, the regulatory standard values are also to be revised for exposure dose assessment. Thus, we have proceeded surveys of exposure dose evaluation data based on the 2007 Recommendations. New effective dose conversion coefficients are published by expanding radiation types and energies beyond the current regulations in Japan for external exposure dose assessments. In addition, new effective dose coefficients for internal dosimetry due to occupational exposure have been given with radioisotope types revised by reflecting the latest scientific knowledge. Here, it might be essential to consider whether to adopt these data with consideration of exposure situations at radiation facilities. In addition, we should take care of discussions in ICRP for the general recommendations in future.
